The Primary School
The early years between the ages 3 to 5 are considered as the foundational years to mould and direct a child’s progress. Gurukul provides a secure, stimulating and supportive environment for children where learning takes place and creative expression is encouraged. Our main aim remains to strengthen self-confidence, develop a happy and positive learning attitude, form good habits of health and safety, inspire creativity and individuality by learning through play, develop natural curiosity by exploring and discovering through structured play. The Primary School focuses on the heart as well as the mind and addresses social, physical, emotional and cultural needs as well as academic ones.
At Vishwashanti Gurukul, the Primary School programme seeks to give students an appreciation of the perspectives of people from other cultures, regions and nations. The units of inquiry use resources and examples from a variety of cultures. Teachers encourage students to recognize that for any question or issue, there are different points of view. In addition, all students have the opportunity to study a second language by age seven. Children learn to communicate in another language and also gain an understanding of the culture in which the language is spoken.
We follow an inquiry-based curriculum and provide students with a strong foundation of essential knowledge skills and aptitude. Between ages 6-12, the children become physically fit, mentally alert, spiritually evoked, intellectually capable and are ready to face the future.
The school has dedicated, highly qualified and experienced teachers for the Primary School Programme. Most of the teachers have been trained at the PYP workshops all over Asia Pacific, arranged by the International Baccalaureate Organization. These teachers are well-equipped to impart knowledge by encouraging students to be enquirers rather than silent learners. They play the role of a facilitator as well as being fellow learners with the students.
Vishwashanti Gurukul School is an authorized school for the Primary Years Programme, conducting it since the last 7 years. All IB schools share a common philosophy - a commitment to high quality and challenging international education that Gurukul believes is important for students.
Only schools authorized by the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) as IB World Schools can offer any of its three academic programmes – the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), or the Diploma Programme.
